The Mars Deep Drill Phase II is a prototype for a flight capable robotic drill slated to launch in 2009-2015.
RAT Science Team --
The R.A.T. Science Team is responsible for pre-flight qualification, testing and mission operations of the Rock Abrasion Tool, which is currently in use on the planet Mars as part of the science payload of the Mars Exploration Rover.
Rock Abrasion Tool, 2003 --
The Rock Abrasion Tools (RAT) are two twin flight robots that are part of the Science Payload of the Mars Exploration Rover. The R.A.T.s are designed to dremel through the "durarind", or electro-statically charged dust layer, present on Mars rocks.
